Description

From the artist: "This artwork is a time based piece. You set up this work in the way of people eg. the stairway, door way in to the gallery - so the work is only percetible to the keenest of eyes. There is the possibility of the work being destroyed.

Art can never connect with the viewer. Barriers always exist between the piece and the viewer, both physical obstacles and subtle subliminal control.

This psychological barrier is always there. As a constructed physical object a barrier must fulfil its function, be that separation, containment, enclosure, protection, restriction, control. The size and scale of the barrier is not always in proportion to its power and impact on the psyche.

People use the wall as justification for their fear and actions. A barrier can keep you from entering and escaping. The fixed object has a constantly shifting perception based on the viewer and the psychological baggage they bring with them to the work.
