23. 06. 08. // It's Debateable You've Got Some Explaining To Do
Axis' online journal, Dialogue, and The Dirty Collective are opening a public discussion of their curatorial site of a social activist centre, an 'alternative-non-white-non-gallery space', and asking "Do they negatively affect the interpretations a spectator is encouraged to think about, since they often speak for and over individual works?"
"The art market needs White-Spaces!"
"Do the public care?"
"You're preaching to the converted"
"Art should not be valued on political grounds!"
Whether For or Against, we want to hear what you have to say - and keep it clean!
The Online Debate will take place between 23rd June and 7th July. Guest contributor Peter Lewis, Course Leader of Leeds Met's new MA Curating Contemporary Art programme, will be stating his position.
It's Debateable You've Got Some Explaining To Do is a collaboration with Axis Dialogue on 'The Curating Issue'.
Mark Whiteman, Emily Phelps, Alice Lea, Andy Nizinskyj, Mette Woller and Leah Mai Swain will be taking the podium for The Dirty.
